How to BE Smarter Than a 5th Grader

Do you hear your friends or your kids talk about books they’ve enjoyed, then think “I always wanted to read that but never got around to it!”? What about now?

Mortimer Adler said that “…no young person can complete his or her education in school, college, or university for the simple reason that youth itself— immaturity— is an insuperable obstacle to becoming a truly educated human being while still young. One’s education can be begun in institutions but it can never be completed there. Only a truly mature or adult person can possibly attain the kind of education that produces generally cultivated human beings…”

Are you a cultivated human being, or do you sometimes feel like ‘Dumb’ or ‘Dumber’? Do you worry about losing what brain power you DO have as you age? Just like your body, your brain needs to be properly fed, exercised, rested, and protected to keep it strong and youthful. Future blogs for Goods of the Mind will include:

*How to enjoyably feed your mind with great books
*Exercising and stretching your brain through discussion, games and more
*Keeping a young brain whatever your age
*Expanding the parameters of your thinking ability

Come on- why should kids have all the fun?! Education is for Everyone!
