Goods of the Body: Work Out or Fade Out?

Move it or lose it…

“But if I only make one Goods of the Body change in my life, what should it be?” GET MOVING! Studies have shown that, even if one’s diet is not ideal, proper exercise can improve physical health and longevity. True, we know that there’s no reason not to improve your nutrition as well. But at least begin or improve your workout regimen.*

Remember to include:

  1. Strength training (to tone muscle and protect bone mass) at least 3 times per week.
  2. Cardio-vascular work (to exercise the heart and lungs and burn fat) at least 3 times per week.
  3. Don’t forget to warm up before, and stretch after each workout (to prevent injury and improve flexibility).
  4. Increase your total workout time to at least 30 minutes, 6 times per week.

But which cardio activity is best? The one that you will DO! Ideally, a variety of activities and sports is best to work your system in different ways and prevent boredom. But start with something you enjoy most! Then you can try new things to branch out. Have FUN exploring!

*Remember, when starting a new exercise regimen, do consult your physician, and always listen to your body’s signals about how hard you are working!

To help you ‘fire up’ for your workout, here’s a video of Chicago performing “Stronger Every Day”. This will get you movin’!
